Activity – Urban Walk
Regards croisés : marche urbaine sur l’architecture et l’itinérance, 2025
The Solidarité urbaine teams from Architecture Sans Frontières Québec and Renaître de la rue invite you to an urban walk focusing on urban design and homelessness. Come and explore downtown through the intersecting perspectives of architecture and lived experience of homelessness.
This walk, punctuated by moments of discussion, will explore various themes: What impact does the design of public space have on the people who inhabit it? How does urban planning contribute to the exclusion or inclusion of communities in public space? What are the conflicts of use, and how can design help address them? What does the design of our cities reveal about our collective understanding of homelessness?
The route will cover the area around Berri-UQAM and the Old Port, focusing on both outdoor and indoor public spaces (metro, library, university, square, park). Rather than discovering hidden places, the walk will highlight spaces visible to all.
We will explore architectural elements, street signage, urban furniture, and traces of urban life.
